Why back now and why Kickstarter?
This game requires several unique components never seen before in the world of board games, and as such, the retail price would be far too high for standard distribution. As such, Iron Forest will only be available through this Kickstarter campaign, with the few remaining copies from the print run being sold through any conventions we may attend in the future. This is very much a project we can’t achieve without your support!

Will Iron Forest be available in retail?
There are no plans to bring this game to retail through distribution. But we have added a Retail pledge where some local stores can and may carry this game if they want to.

What is a pledge manager and how does it work?
When you decide to back the campaign, you pledge an amount of money that’s equal to the rewards you want. Around 4-6 weeks after the campaign ends, you’ll receive an email invitation to the pledge manager.
The pledge manager is an online system for you to confirm your pledge, pay for shipping and taxes and add more games or add-ons to you pledge if you want.

If I back Iron Forest for 1$, will I gain access pledge manager?
Yes, you will. If you pledge for at least 1$ game during the campaign, then in the pledge manager you will be able to upgrade to a full pledge of the game.
If you want multiple copies of early bird, add $85 for each copy in the pledge.

Will Iron Forest be available in other languages besides English?
No. This Kickstarter is only for the English version of the game and currently there are no plans to do a full localized translation.
However, we might offer digital download PDF rulebook in French and German (and possibly other languages) depending on demand.

What are the mecha miniatures made from?
The mechas are made in a similar material to the penguins from ICECOOL, with one small change. This time, we are making the top half - the mecha itself - out of a softer PVC. This means that flicking the miniature (and making it jump!) will be much easier, and softer on your fingers!

The game is listed as suitable for anyone 14+ and older. Can I play with younger children?
Yes, though we’d suggest that a helpful adult is available to assist with some of the basic mechanisms. Iron Forest introduces power-ups and asymmetrical scenarios, so it is a little more advanced that ICECOOL. However, your flicking skills will transfer over with no problem!

Can I buy more than one copy of the game?
Yes, when you receive your link to the pledge manager, you will be able to add on as many copies of Iron Forest as you like! But if you want multiple copies of early bird, add $85 for each copy in the pledge. Alternatively, you will be able to add more Early Bird copies in the Pledge Manager as long as you pledged at least one Early Bird copy during the first 48h.

Is this game the same as ICECOOL?
While it’s made by the same designers and company, Iron Forest is different in many ways to the original ICECOOL! With two levels to play on, unique launcher, scenarios and much more, you can be sure of an all-new playing experience. We are using the same Box in a Box system, and mechas will come on round bottoms, sure, but this is very much an evolution!

Will I be able to order ICECOOL or ICECOOL2 in the pledge manager?
Yes, and you will be able to add ICECOOL and ICECOOL2 as Optional Buys during the campaign. Bear in mind that you will get all your Optional Buys together with your pledge in 2023.

What is BackerKit?
BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

How does BackerKit work?
After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.
I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?
The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.
Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.
To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.
How do I update my shipping address?
BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.
When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?
That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.
I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?
As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
